Social Responsibility at V Spot Cafe

We, at V Spot Cafe, recognise that we are extremely fortunate: fortunate to live in this country, in this city, to have been born into the family we were, to have had the opportunities that we have had and for life to have been kind to us.

We recognise that not everyone has been as fortunate. We believe that it is our responsibility to help those less fortunate.

We never forget the great line ‘But for the grace of God, so go I”

Below are some of the ways we are socially responsible and invite you to become involved.

YWCA of Canberra Lanyon Food Hub

The need is great this year – the shelves at the Lanyon Food Hub are often empty.

You can pick up YWCA shopping bags and grocery lists (you don’t even need to think about what to buy), do your shopping and then drop it back at V Spot Cafe for the YWCA to stock the shelves of the Lanyon Food Hub. Another way we can all pay it forward.

Used Coffee Grounds for  the Smith family

Used Coffee Grounds are great for so many things. You will be amazed at what you can do with them. Check out list of suggestions. But there’s more! V Spot Cafe Coffee Grounds have one extra benefit over almost all others – when you pick up V Spot Cafe Used Coffee grounds we invite you to make a donation to The Smith Family and help educate a disadvantages young person.

We chose the Smith family as the charity to receive the donations from Used Coffee Grounds because “The Smith Family is a children’s charity that believes that education is the key to changing lives. As research has shown, supporting a child’s education is one of the most effective ways of breaking the cycle of disadvantage and ensuring they can access the same learning opportunities as their peers.”

Bring your own container to help the environment at the same time.

Suspended Coffee

“Many years ago in Naples, Italy, a tradition was born… Espresso Sospeso. Translating as ‘suspended coffee’,

The idea is simple.

Someone goes into a cafe, bakery, restaurant and pre-purchases a coffee or food.

This is then a ‘suspended coffee’

Someone in need can then go into the business and ask if they have any suspended coffees. They are then provided with warmth and nourishment at no cost to themselves.

Paying it forward, one coffee at a time.

Purchase one for someone in need today.”

We take it a little further at V Spot Cafe. When a customer buys a suspended coffee, V Spot Cafe will match it with an additional Suspended Coffee.

AND we don’t just do Suspended Coffee. You can buy any of our items ‘suspended’, and we will match that too.

We are working with a number of organisations including Working Wonders and Mission Werx to ensure the suspended coffee and food is redeemed.
